Chippewas of Georgina Island Storytelling Website
CES was hired by Georgina Island First Nation to design a storytelling website and kiosk that features stories told by their community members as well as a digital museum that contains community artifacts and historical written articles. This project preserved valuable pieces of the local history by recording the stories of community members and Elders, digitizing historical photographs and written content, and cataloguing community artifacts - creating an interactive, educational website and kiosk that was housed in the community library.
This was a legacy project for the community and the librarians were trained to ensure the technology could be managed and serviced by the community, for the community. The kiosk allowed community members, students, and visitors to learn about Georgina Island's traditions, culture, and history. The community is striving to continue recording new stories and adding new content for years to come involving youth, Elders, and everyone in between.
